Description
The conference “From Helsinki to Belgrade - the First CSCE Follow-up Meeting in Belgrade 1977/78” addressed the topics that had been discussed at the very first CSCE Follow-up Meeting (October 1977 – March 1978) – cultural and information exchange, issues of human, civil and minority rights, humanitarian progress in general and the successful transformation of the CSCE into the OSCE.
International panel of prominent academics gathered at the Belgrade Conference to assess the political importance of the CSCE and reaffirm necessity for inter-governmental cooperation in the implementation of provisions of the Helsinki Final Act.
The conference was divided in nine panels:
CSCE Development Process – Overview;
CSCE Development Process - Superpowers;
CSCE Development Process - Neutral and Non-Aligned States;
Human Rights and Minorities - The Eastern Approach ;
Human Rights and Minorities -The Western Approach;
Global Politics - Superpowers;
Global Politics - Western Europe ;
Global Politics - Eastern Europe ;
Global Politics - Neutral and Non-Aligned States.
